Carlton Marsh


The wader scrape is now full after recent heavy rain, so no good for waders for the moment.

The only notable birds were juvenile Buzzard calling, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Kingfisher, Goldcrest and Little Egret. (K. Bannister/L & A Corrall).

16 species of butterfly included our first Painted Lady, 24 Red Admiral, 42 Peacock, 18 Small Tortoiseshell, 87 Meadow Brown, 37 Ringlet, 9 Speckled Wood, 108 Gatekeeper, 1 late Large Skipper, 48 Small Skipper, 1 Holly Blue, 1 Small Copper, 2 Comma, 37 Large White and 87 White Species.

Bespoke nest boxes for next year made from small pieces of stone with a plastic inner and a slate roof. (John Finch)
