The resident female Red darvic Y189 (ringed 20/6/2007 at Anglers Country Park), died during the severe weather of December 2022.
The resident male Red Y763 (ringed at Doncaster Lakeside in 2009) paired up with an incoming female, Yellow Y187 in March 2023.
The new female BTO ring number W40097 (ringing date unknown) was
fitted with a yellow darvic ring Y187 on 20/8/2021 whilst breeding at Pebley
Reservoir in North Derbyshire, a distance of around 27 miles.
The
female nested amongst the fallen Willow tree stumps in the middle of the flash
and had produced 4 cygnets by 20th of May, however, only one
remained on 7th July.
My
thanks to Dave Pointon and Selby Swan Rescue for the ringing information.
