Edderthorpe Flash
Sixteen Avocets on here this morning, displaying, fighting, continuously calling,-superb. Black-tailed Godwit 2, Redshank 4, Shelduck 1, Wigeon 2, Teal 9.
Houghton Wash
As usual virtually nothing on here although the water area is quickly drying up. Ther must be a lack of food in here, I assume all the rain last year washed an abundance of pesticides into the water area which has killed all the invertebrates (or is this thought too simple?). Anyway, hardly any Lapwing are nesting in the field, no Redshank are nesting, no sign of any ducks and even Black-headed Gulls aren't feeding here.
