Carlton Marsh

An early morning visit produced little in the way of song birds especially of the reed dwelling type. So far only 1 Sedge Warbler is singing, and although at least 3 Reed Warblers arrived last week none were singing, probably due to the cool conditions.
Buzzard, Little Owl and Great Spotted Woodpecker were present and 2 adult Foxes was seen. Mute Swan is still 'sitting' and 1 pair of Coot have 5 small young.
Ladies Smock, Jack-by-the-hedge, Red Campion and Greater Stitchwort are now in flower and the Western Meadow is awash with thousands of Cowslips.
However, access to the site is still somewhat restricted.
