Return to the Edge

Wombwell Ings early AM- Singing males included 4 Skylark, 3 Reed Bunting, 2 Whitethroat, and 1 Blackcap. On the open water were 1 Grey Heron, 3 Little Egret, 2adult Mute Swan+1cygnet, 2 Tufted Duck, 16 Mallard (+broods of 4 and 4) and 3 Gadwall +brood of 4. Also present were 4adult+2juv Little Ringed Plover, 1 Juv Ringed Plover, 1Black Tailed Godwit, 3 Redshank, 1 Snipe and 1 Oystercatcher.

Broomhill Flash mid AM- Present were 4 adult +6juv Little Grebe, 4 Mute Swan, 61 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 20 Gadwall, 14 Tufted Duck (+broods of  8,6,2), 4 Mallard+ brood of 2, 1f Pochard+brood of 2, 1 Kingfisher and 2 Kestrel.

Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- Singing males included 6 Whitethroat, 3 Chiffchaff, 2 Sedge Warbler, 1 Blackcap and 1 Willow Warbler. On the open water were 2 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Little Grebe, 8 Cormorant, 2 adult Mute Swan+2 cygnets, 18 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag, 55 Tufted Duck(+broods5,4,2), 10 Pochard+broods 11,2), 24 Gadwall(+broods of 10,8,6), 7 Mallard(+brood of 8)and 1f Shoveler. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 1 Kestrel, 2 Common Tern, 2 Oystercatcher and 2 Bullfinch. On returning to the Old Moor car park at 2pm a Hobby was circling overhead.
