The Edge 9th July

Wombwell Ings mid AM- A Grey Wagtail and 2 Mallard, with a brood of 5, were on the R.Dearne. Singing males included 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Blackcap and 1 Sedge Warbler. Also present 2 Little Egret, 2 adult Mute Swan and 1 cygnet, 9 Greylag, 1 Canada Goose, 3 Gadwall, 20+ Lapwing, 6 LRP, 1adult+ 1juv Ringed Plover,1 Kestrel, 1 Kingfisher, 10+ House Martin and 10+ Sand Martin.

Broomhill Flash mid AM- Present were 1 Mute Swan, 64 Canada Geese, 1 Greylag, 10 Tufted Duck(+broods of10,10,7,8,6,3), 5 Mallard(+brood of 5), 8 Gadwall(+broods10,9), 2f Shoveler brood of 6), 1 Pochard(+brood of 2), 30+ Lapwing and 2 Kestrel.

Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- Singing males included 6 Whitethroat, 5 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap and 1 Willow Warbler. On the open water were 6 Little Grebe,2 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Cormorant, 2 adult Mute Swan+ 2 cygnets, 50 Canada Geese, 9 Greylag, 45 Gadwall(+ broods9,8), 34 Tufted Duck(+ broods10,7,4,3), 17 Mallard +brood of 4( fear for the safety of the 2 bright yellow ducklings) and 9 Pochard (+broods 5,2).Also present were3 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret(flew towards Adwick at12.10), 1 Green Woodpecker,1 Kestrel, 2 Oystercatcher and 1 Song Thrush.
