Quite an entertaining roost tonight. Roosting numbers were 2377 Black-headed Gulls, plus 44 Lesser-black Backs and 6 Common Gulls.
The regular 3rd summer Yellow-legged Gull doesn't appear to roost here, but there was a first winter bird and an adult in the roost to compensate.
The ringed first winter Med Gull also joined the roost, but an adult Kittiwake flew over the Top Res and continued to the west at 19.40 hrs.
Finally, a Long-eared Owl was picked up in the field at the southwestern corner of the reservoir as I was walking back to the car, and flew north along the west bank of the res and over the Low Lake ruin at 2045 hrs.
