Wintersett Gull Roost 18.08.13

Per Steve Denny
A juvenile Med Gull moulting to first winter was on the Country Park shallows at Wintersett from 19.45 to at least 20.30, catching flies - is this the same bird as the one from Edderthorpe or is that one more advanced ?
The 3rd summer Yellow-legged Gull was also there, and a flock of 10 Black-tailed Godwits flew around the Park Lake before leaving to the southwest at 19.50 hrs.
Most of the gulls were flying over to Wintersett res to roost, so I dashed over there to count the following:-
Lesser Black-backed Gull - 17
Common Gull - 1 first winter
Black-headed Gull - c1,000.
Another two Blackwits flew over the reservoir at 20.50 hrs, leaving south.

This med gull appears to be much younger than that at Edderthorpe which is much greyer on the upperparts. It has been on Edderthorpe for the last two mornings. Apologies for not posting but I stii have internet problems
