Spoonbill still on Wath Ings late-aft. Also 16 Black-tailed Godwits.
Two-barred Crossbills at Broomhead today included two males, the usual cracking bright red one + a peach-coloured bird.
I haven't conclusively seen six juvs Gray, but have been there when there were six crossbills 'popped' after we had only seen juv two-barreds in the tree (6 juvs came on pager later). Not a safe claim in my opinion, but that is not to say that someone else hasn't reliably seen six - we just need them to come forward.

John,
When I visited with others on the 13th we had 1 female and 4 juvs with ample double wing bars (Two-barred). At the same time we had part of the large Common Crossbill flock visit the adjoining tree and at least two of these juvs had slight wing bars (Common Crossbill).
So what do we have to date?
2 males, 2 females and 4 juvs?
Any advances.
There's been a "peachy" coloured Male Common about; is this a possibility here?
Now that we have 2 males (the new peachy coloured bird was seen by Trevor Marshall) and 3 females (2 yellow birds, 1 patchy yellow) and a minimum of 4 possibly 5 brown juveniles. This makes a minimum of 9 birds.
Many of the juvenile Common Crossbills there have good well marked wingbars, some surprisingly well marked. And as one of the photos shows - not all the Two-barreds have whacking white wingbars!
