Carlton Marsh

This morning c150 Pink Feet flew north at 09.55hrs (Keith Bannister).
New in today 2m and 1f Wigeon and an adult and 1 immature Mute Swan. 12 Shoveler, 43 Gadwall and an adult Common Gull were enjoying the flood water. Also present juv. Buzzard, 2 Treecreeper, Goldcrest and Willow Tit at the wader scrape view point (Dave Smith).

At around mid-day, Chris Parkin had 2 Red Admiral, 2 Comma, 1 Speckled Wood and 1 Painted Lady.

This afternoon a Little Egret was on the wader scrape, but there was no sign of the Wigeon. Of note 6 Redwing, 6 Mistle Thrush, 2 Siskin, Water Rail, Kingfisher, Sparrowhawk, 2 Linnet south with 2 Pied Wagtail. Our resident female Mute Swan must have chased off the incoming adult from this morning and persistently harassed the immature all afternoon.

2 foxes were abroad and a male Migrant Hawker on the wing braved the cool late afternoon temperature (c12c). (CG)
