The Edge 14/10/2019

Wombwell Ings - Present were 8 Mute Swan, 57 Teal, 41 Mallard, 37 Shoveler, 34 Gadwall, 23 Wigeon, 6 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 4 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 81 Lapwing, 1 Swallow, 11 Meadow Pipit, 1 Redwing, 1 Treecreeper, 1 Goldcrest and 2 Bullfinch.
The Fleet - Viewable were 27 Canada Geese, 1 Little Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Moorhen, 205 Lapwing, 41 BH Gull, 3 LBB Gull, 10+ Skylark and 20+ Linnet.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+3juv Mute Swan, 150+ Pink Footed Geese over west at 10.35am, 8 Canada Geese, 21 Tufted Duck, 16 Gadwall, 16 Shoveler, 12 Mallard, 5 Little Grebe, 13 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 31 Coot, 1 Peregrine, 1 Kestrel and 102 Lapwing.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 1 Mute Swan, 187 Greylag, 102 Canada Geese, 51 Tufted Duck, 7 Gadwall, 5 Mallard, 3 Pochard, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Little Grebe, 7 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 228 Coot, 2 Herring Gull and 1 BH Gull. Also present were 1 Bittern which flew  the length of the eastern pool at 12 o'clock, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Jay and 1 Mistle Thrush. Just packing up for the return walk at 12.30pm when a skein of 250+ Pink Footed Geese flew over west and a few minutes later 12 Swallow flew south east.
