The Edge 24/10/2019

Wombwell Ings - Present were 7+1juv Mute Swan, 9 Canada Geese, 39 Shoveler, 25 Wigeon, 21 Gadwall, 13 Teal, 8 Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 5 Moorhen, 2 Coot, 1 Sparrowhawk, 88 Lapwing, 12 BH Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Kingfisher, 7 Skylark, 4 Meadow Pipit, 3 Pied Wagtail, 3 Stonechat, 1 Blackcap and 1 Treecreeper.
The Fleet - Viewable were 1 Mute Swan, 77 Canada Geese, 4 Mallard, 2 Gadwall, 1 Tufted Duck, 2 Moorhen, 18 Lapwing, 363 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull, 7 Meadow Pipit and 20+ Linnet. Keith Fisher also had 6 Red Legged Partridge.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 3+3juv Mute Swan, 84 Canada Geese, 19 Gadwall, 19 Shoveler, 19 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 4 Teal, 1 Pochard, 3 Little Grebe, 18 Coot, 6 Cormorant, 1 Barn Owl, 10 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 9 BH Gull, 2 Common Gull and 1 LBB Gull.
Bolton Ings - Highlight was a Bittern perched on the phragmites along the north edge of the east pool for 5+ minutes at 12.30pm. On the open water were 2 Mute Swan, 152+ Canada Geese, 154+ Greylag, 20 Tufted Duck, 15 Mallard, 12 Pochard, 4 Gadwall, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Cormorant, 178 Coot, 6 BH Gull, 6 LBB Gull, 4 Herring Gull and 2 Common Gull.
