Decided to 'go through the motions' and make an early morning visit to Broomhead. Arrived at 5.30 to meet Graham Speight and by 6 am the first crossbill in the scope was a juvenile Two-barred! The flock (up to about 40) came and went several times and incredibly at 6.30 am 2 Two-barred Crossbills (both juvs) were together in the same tree.
Directions: from green bridge take road along southwest side of reservoir. Park in pull in opposite wooden walkway. Take track away from pull in and then track first left until you reach feeders on right. Birds were seen in this area but no doubt could be anywhere but very vocal anyway.
