Carlton Marsh

It was a barmy 13.8c today with a light wind that made it feel very spring like. Today's sightings included 4 Lapwing (1 still displaying after dark) Water Rail singing, Little Egret roosted (2 last night) Tawny Owl and Bittern flew to its usual roost at 16.02hrs. A Pipistrelle bat was on the wing at dusk. (Dave Standish)
I would like thank Sophie Pinder - Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and her volunteers for the great job they did on Friday clearing scrub. This work will enable wild flowers and butterflies to thrive at this location.
