More on Broomhead crossbills
Afternoon visit after work 4.30 to 7 pm when the drizzle got a bit heavy. At least 130 Common Crossbills were counted around the feeding station area. Two barred Crossbills were around the area for much of the time until 5.15pm after which there were no sightings. A minimum of 5 birds were seen but importantly 2 females were seen with 3 juveniles. One female is a very yellow bird the other is a patchy yellow. Both females were seen together in the same tree. This should mean there are a minimum of 7 birds in this area. ASTONISHING..a
