The Edge 12th May

Broomhill Flash late AM- A late start due to an airport pick-up at 1.45 am. Highlight was a Barn Owl looking out of one of the boxes on the edge of Clegg's Meadow. Also noted were 4 Little Grebe, 1 Mute Swan, 10 Canada Geese, 24 Tufted Duck, 4 Gadwall, 3 Mallard + 5 ducklings, 1 Shoveler, 1f Pochard, 2 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Snipe, 2 Common Tern  and 1 singing Garden Warbler.
Wombwell Ings early/mid PM-On telling a visiting birder that the Glossy Ibis had left the ings at c12.20pm, gone to Old Moor and was then  seen leaving towards Adwick  at c1.25pm,  he replied that he had just seen it on the side pool, There it was in plain sight. Egg on faces for the 'ever watchful !!!' Whitey and Seev. It was still present when we left at c3.15pm. Also present were 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Mute Swan, 11 Canada Geese, 2 Shelduck, 23 Gadwall, 21 Mallard, 16 Tufted Duck, 3 Shoveler, 1 Garganey, 3 Redshank, 2 Oystercatcher, 2 Avocet, 1 Dunlin, 1 Kestrel, 1 White Wagtail and 1 Kingfisher.
