The Edge 16th May

Wombwell Ings - Present were 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 5 Mute Swan, 25 Greylag, 20 Canada Geese, 4 Shelduck + brood of 8, 32 Gadwall, 25 Mallard, 21 Tufted Duck, 3 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 8 Lapwing, 4 Redshank, 4 Avocet, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Black Tailed Godwit, 3 Linnet and 1 Song Thrush. Jackdaw numbers have increased, with up to 15 birds stalking through the grass looking for unattended or weak young.
Bolton Ings-On the open water were, 4 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swan + 7 cygnets, 7 Canada Geese, 5 Greylag, 29 Tufted Duck, 8 Pochard, 8 Gadwall, 8 Mallard and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 2 Lapwing, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Kestrel, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Sedge Warbler and 1 Bullfinch.
TPT- Singing males 5 Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, 3 Whitethroat and 3 Willow Warbler.
