Looney Tunes on the Edge

3 Elmer Fudds shooting in the back field at Broomhill between 6 am and 11 am meant few birds in the immediate area. Shooting is bad enough but  an out of control gun dog straying onto the Flash is even worse for birds.
Birds present at Broomhill included 11 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 16 Gadwall, 3 Mute Swan, 5 Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Shoveler, 1 Teal, 1 Black Necked Grebe, 11 Little Grebe , 2 Gt Crested Grebe and 126 Coot.

Decided to stop half way on Wombwell Ings to observe gunners who packed up and left almost immediately but made a show of collecting their decoy Canada Geese. A quick view of the water revealed very litle, just 1Mute Swan + 5 cygnets and 1 Greenshank. Also seen were 8 Pied Wagtail and a Kingfisher on the Bulling Dyke. The  siren call of Edderthorpe  and a possible American Golden Plover ( later confirmed) proved irresistible.

Obviously the number of geese  and ducks ( the birds that regularly commute between flash and ings) had moved elsewhere to avoid buckshot. Thats all folks.
