The Edge 6th May

Wombwell Ings mid AM-Present were 1 Grey Heron, 1 Cormorant, 3 Mute Swan, 2 Shelduck, 17 Gadwall, 11 Tufted Duck, 11 Mallard, 2male + 1female Garganey, 1 Shoveler, 4 Redshank, 4 Avocet, 3 Dunlin, 2 Grey Partridge, 6 Skylark, 2 Whitethroat and 1 Chiffchaff. A mid PM visit added, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 4 more Avocet,1 Buzzard and 1 female Wheatear.
Broomhill Flash late AM-Noted were 4 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Mute Swan, 24 Canada Geese, 11 Greylag,  16 Tufted Duck, 6 Mallard, 5 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 2 Redshank, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Snipe, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 40+ Swift, 1 female Wheatear, 2 Reed Warbler and 1 Sedge Warbler. Little Owlwas again showing on Top Lane(J.Seeviour).
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM- Warbler Way should be sponsored by Ronseal (Does what it says on the tin). Singing males included 13 Whitethroat,  12 Chiffchaff, 9 Blackcap, 9 Willow Warbler, 3 Sedge Warbler, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 1 Grasshopper Warbler. Also vying for attention were 2 Green Woodpecker, 2 Reed Bunting, 2 Bullfinch, 1 Buzzard,1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 1 Cuckoo and 1 booming Bittern (from Old Moor). On the open water were 3 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Mute Swan, 36 Tufted Duck, 6 Pochard, 5 Mallard, 4 Gadwall, 3 Shoveler and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 2 Lapwing, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Large Red Damselfly and 1 Banded Demoiselle .
