The Edge 08/07/2019

Wombwell Ings - Pleased to see 40+ Gatekeeper and a few Ringlet butterflies as I walked alongside the Bulling Dyke. Present were 7 Mute Swan, 2 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 2 Mallard, 1 Gadwall, 3 Grey Heron, 2 Little Egret, 2 Cormorant, 1 Water Rail calling from behind the hide on the Bulling Dyke, 9+ Lapwing, 2+2juv Little Ringed Plover, 4 Skylark, 3 Pied Wagtail, 5 Linnet and 2 Reed Bunting. Early AM, K. Fisher also had 1 Spotted Redshank and 1 Greenshank.
The Fleet - The new scrape is beginning to attract more birds including 2 Greylag, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel,  4+ Lapwing, 40+ BH Gull, 23 Herring Gull, 8 LBB Gull and 15+ House Martin. Keith  Fisher also had 8 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Ringed Plover and 1 Yellow Wagtail early morning.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+3y Mute Swan, 33 Canada Geese, 2+2y Greylag, 11+17y Gadwall, 14+7y Tufted Duck, 12 Mallard, 5+1y Little Grebe, 1 Little Egret. 4 Buzzard, 3 Kestrel, 87+7y Coot, 7+ Lapwing, 2 Oystercatcher and 1+3y LBB Gull.
TPT - Singing males 6 Chiffchaff, 5 Blackcap, 2 Whitethroat and 1 Sedge Warbler. Also 50+ Ringlet and 2 Brimstone.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 23+2y Mute Swan, 22 Greylag, 2+1juv Canada Geese, 44 Gadwall, 7 Tufted Duck, 6 Pochard, 5+3y Great Crested Grebe, 4+3y Little Grebe, 7 Cormorant, 171+7y Coot, 1 LBB Gull and 2 Common Tern. Also present were 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 2 Kestrel, 1 Grey Wagtail and 2 Linnet.
