The Edge 30/07/2019

Wombwell Ings - As I walked onto the ings I was surprised to see two Ruddy Shelduck circling around Broomhill Flash before flying east at 8.45am. Present were 8 Mute Swan, 62 Greylag, 38 Canada Geese, 24 Mallard, 2 Gadwall, 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 1 Peregrine, 38 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper and 38 BH Gull.
The Fleet - Viewable were 29 Canada Geese, 5 Greylag, 2 Mallard, 2 Gadwall, 3 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 14 Lapwing, 2+2y Little Ringed Plover and 1juv Ringed Plover,
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+3y Mute Swan, 38 Canada Geese, 34+24y Gadwall, 10+9y Tufted Duck, 16 Mallard, 1f Pochard, 10 Little Grebe, 2 Little Egret,  1 Grey Heron, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 144 Coot, 11 Lapwing, 5 Common Sandpiper and 2+3y LBB Gull. Early morning, Peter Kent also had 1 Curlew over and 2+3y Little Ringed Plover.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were  5+1y Mute Swan, 11 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag, 29 Gadwall, 11 Pochard, 3 Mallard, 2f+1y Tufted Duck, 2 Shoveler, 4+3y Great Crested Grebe, 4+1y Little Grebe, 5 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 186+5y Coot, 2 Moorhen and 3 BH Gull. Also present were 1cc Marsh Harrier, 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1m+1juv Green Woodpecker and 2 Bullfinch.
