Broomhill Flash

Mid morning- Bird numbers appeared a little low, possibly to do with the poor weather conditions and shooting on the field opposite the recreation ground. Birds present included 2 Mute Swan, 62 Gadwall, 12 Mallard, 9 Shoveler, 22 Tufted Duck, 4 Teal, 3 Wigeon, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Little Egret, 4 Cormorant, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Little Grebe, 1 LBB Gull, 2 Common Gull, 1 Green Sandpiper and a flock of 300+ flyover Golden Plover. The lure of an American Wigeon at Anglers CP proved greater than Bolton Ings on a wet morning.

There's a lot of water stood in fields up and down the country. We don't seem to be getting any decent numbers of dabbling ducks so I wonder if birds are more spread out this winter.
Shooting in the back field at Broomhill obviously has a massive detrimental impact on bird numbers throughout the whole of the Dearne Valley. The shooting near to Broomhill Park won't help but I don't think it would directly impact Broomhill Flash.
The 9 acre field directly across the old road from Broomhill Park is/was owned by Barnsley Council.
Is this the field you mean?
