The Edge

Broomhill Flash mid AM- Another murky but mild morning. Birds present included 2 Mute Swan, 39 Gadwall, 29 Tufted Duck, 8 Shoveler, 6 Teal, 2 Pochard,2 Wigeon, 6 Little Grebe, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 8 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 3 Common Gull, 2 LBB Gull and 1 Kestrel. The Old Moor cc Marsh Harrier flew over Broomhill at 11.20 AM.
NB The 2 Black Swans on Little Broomhill are part of the owner's growing menagerie.

Bolton Ings late AM- On the open water were 3 Mute Swan +1 juv, 48 Mallard, 26 Gadwall, 13 Tufted Duck, 11 Pochard, 3 Shoveler, 1 Wigeon, 3 Grey Heron, 8 Cormorant, 6 Little Grebe, 5 Great Crested Grebe and 6 Common Gull. Along the old railway track birds noted included 50+ Redwing, 1 Mistle Thrush, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker, 4+ Jay, 4+ Bullfinch, 1 Reed Bunting, 1 Willow Tit and 2 Kestrel.
