No sign of Hawfinches this morning in spite of a lot of trying from myself and two other birders.
Highlights this morning were two kestrels on and in a nestbox at bottom of South Avenue. Also a GS Woodpecker drumming one roll each on a succession of trees in Warren Wood until it found the most resonant. Then it went on drumming on that one for ten minutes before being joined by another bird and flying off together. Too quick to tell whether it was a mate or a rival.
No sight nor sound of any migrants yet.
