Adwick

Noticeable increase in Blackbirds with at least 10 in just one short hedgerow. Probably treble that number along the middle footpath.
Buzzard over the site and kingfisher along the drains but other than that there is very little using the site at the moment.
Can only think that this is because there isn't a large enough sheet of open water for water birds such as wigeon and teal to jump onto in times of disturbance. There are plenty of smaller pools (which look good for snipe) dotted about the site but these are just not big enough to hold the more vigilant and wary bird species.
I was hoping that Adwick would be the site where whoopers and maybe bewicks could establish themselves back in the valley. As things stand it's looking unlikely - but hopefully things will improve over time.
