Carlton Marsh

As usual our area missed the bad weather affecting many other parts of the country, in fact it was quite a pleasant day. Birds included Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Kingfisher, Willow Tit, Little Owl and 9 Tufted Duck. Bittern flew in from the southern part of the reserve at 14.30hrs and was seen again at 15.00hrs making another short flight into the reed beds. (Rod Heeley et al)
Moles are very active right now looking for mates and Candlesnuff fungus is evident on tree stumps in the car park.
