A single juvenile whooper swan was in with the resident family of swans and quite an exciting find today.
It was quiet round the lake, with the lunchtime rain keeping people away, resulting in a flock of long-tailed tits (10), goldcrest, goldfinch and chaffinch all quite low down in the trees by the circular footpath.
On the lake were Canada goose (35), goosander (10 - 5m/5f), coot (30), tufted duck (35), moorhen (11), little grebe (3), kingfisher (1).
A covey of 6 grey partridge spent the afternoon out in the open in the fields at Boyne Hill Farm yesterday before heading to the cover of the hedgerow at dusk.
