Carlton Marsh

Another beautiful day! 40 Pink Feet NW 09.10hrs (Keith Bannister) & 30 Skylarks & 20 Meadow Pipits on nearby fields. (Geoff Miller)

4 Buzzards thermalling over the reserve between 11.50 & 12.25hrs drifted west.

Jays are being seen all over the place, but 3 south, 2 north, 1 north east & another south all flew high like continentals, as far as the eye could see.

Meanwhile 2 Sparrowhawks were aggrevating the Wood Pigeons and Little Owl was in its usual roost. Also present were Kingfisher, Green and Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Chiffchaffs, and a Grey Wagtail flew west.
Invertebrates included 3 Red Admiral, 3 Commas, 6 Migrant Hawkers and c10 Common Darters.

Carlton Village
Dave Smith elected to stay home and do some bird ringing. This is what he caught in his suburban garden:
30 Goldfinches, 2 Coal Tits, 2 Great Tits, Blue Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Robin and 5 Dunnocks.

Cudworth Common (This afternoon)
5 Meadow Pipits, 7 Mute Swans (5 immatures) & 6 Grey Partridges. Also 2 Common Blue butterflies, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 2 Migrant Hawkers & 8 Common Darters. (Les Corrall)

Edderthorpe Flash (This afternoon)
C300 Golden Plover, Shelduck, 2 'Redhead' Goosanders & 50 Greylags. (LC)
