Old Moor

A heavy shower  brought down 7 Barnacle Geese  that circled Old Moor at 18.45,  then dropped in  onto grass bank, next to Canada Geese at 18.56.  As the rain abated and a spectacular double rainbow appeared the Barnacle Geese flew off to the north at 19.30hours.  Also a  brood of 6 mallard ducklings were seen from Bittern hide.

Thanks for that news Angie. I assume you didn't see any rings on the Barnacles? Unless they disgrace themselves by reappearing I rather fancy these might have been genuine wild birds on return passage rather than from a feral population. Pure speculation of course.

No rings were seen on these birds.
Their behaviour, and the urgency with which they left, seemed like wild birds on passage - (Pete Smith)
