This morning Cormorant, 20 Teal, Little Grebe, 30 Redwing, Green & Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Buzzard and Water Rail.
A Fox was prowling around the wader scrape and some fresh Velvet Shank fungi was found growing from an old fence rail. (L. & A. Corrall/R. Laverack/CG).

Highlights were 3 Lesser Redpoll, 1 Goldcrest, 3 Redwing, 1 Blackbird.
Today's highlights included 15 Greylags, 20 Redwing, 50 Fieldfare east, 7 Siskin, Redpoll and Treecreeper. The Whooper Swan was feeding in the rape field again (Richard Laverack/CG).

A juvenile Great Northern Diver flew in from the west, and dropped on at 09.30hrs.
It wasn't seen from late morning onwards.

A Canada X Greylag hybrid was on this morning.
A male Cetti's Warbler was in the boathouse reeds.
A Great White Egret was roosting in the ruin field.

A 1st winter Med Gull amongst 14,000 BH Gulls on the TR roost this evening.

Barnsley Council Rangers hard at work cutting back overhanging trees on the embankment to let some light in for wildflowers etc.
There is very little in the way of wildfowl at the moment except for the Whooper Swan, a Cormorant, a few Teal, Mallard, Gadwall and Water Rail. Both immature Buzzards were present (Chris Parkin).

All the gulls roosted on Wintersett Res whilst I was sat in Anglers CP hide out of the rain. Amused myself by counting Common Gulls passing over from the north, total 165 with a bonus adult Mediterranean Gull also south to Wintersett Res..
The Whooper Swan is still around, it has been feeding in an adjacent oil seed rape field for the last few mornings but was back on the main scrape this morning.
This morning Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 3 Goldcrests, 3 Mistle Thrushes, 20 Redwings, Water Rail, and a Cettis Warbler sang in the reeds near Ralph's seat (Les & Andrew Corrall) There was no sign of the Whooper Swan for the 3rd day!

A male Cetti's Warbler was in the south west corner.

Willow Emerald egg laying scars were seen on Willow in north west corner.
