10 - 17 degrees, cold start, with 4/8 cloud and a light southerly to south easterly.
Anglers CP VisMig: 07.00 - 12.00hrs.  A busy watch with plenty of birds to count.
Going south:  Meadow Pipits were on the move with 2577 south by 11.00hrs.  5 Swallow.  33 House Martin.  231 Goldfinch.  69 Linnet  59 Pied wagtail. 15 Song Thrush..  25 Chaffinch.  3 Greenfinch   2 Reed Bunting.  30 Skylark.  4 Siskin.   2 Kestrels (07.50 and 08.15 hrs)
Other: Yellowhammer 2 east + 1 west.
Anglers CP: The Dark Bellied Brent Goose and the Pink-footed Goose still present. Yellow-legged Gull 1 adult.  An OSPREY flew south, in rain, at 15.25hrs. 
Cold Hiendley Res: Goldeneye 1 female.  Teal 1,
Wintersett Res: A male and a female Stonechat were in the edge of the ruin field.  A male Cetti's Warbler was on the ruin
45 birds were ringed, including: 7 Chiffchaff,  2 Blackcap,  12 Lesser Redpoll,  14 Goldfinch.

13 - 19 degrees, cool with rain this morning, warm with scattered cloud this afternoon and a light south westerly.
Anglers CP: A Redhead Goosander was in early doors.  The Dark-bellied Brent Goose and the Pink-footed Goose still present.  Cormorant 13. Shoveler 31.  Teal 3.  House Martin 2.
Wintersett Res: A male Blackcap was by the boathouse.

Wombwell Ings - Present were 54 Mallard, 33 Teal, 23 Shoveler, 15 Wigeon, 6 Gadwall, 2 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 277 Lapwing, 3 Ruff, 5 BH Gull, 4 Pied Wagtail, 4 Meadow Pipit and a flock of 50+ Linnet.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+6y Mute Swan, 23 Tufted Duck, 18 Shoveler, 17 Teal, 9 Gadwall, 6 Mallard, 2 Pintail, 2 Wigeon, 6 Little Grebe, 4 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 13 Coot, 8 Moorhen, 9 Lapwing, 9 Snipe, 1 Common Sandpiper, 17 BH Gull and 1 LBB Gull.
 Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2+2y Mute Swan, 266 Canada Geese, 51 Greylag, 31 Mallard, 8 Tufted Duck, 4 Shoveler, 2 Pochard, 1 Gadwall, 6 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe and 101 Coot. Also present was a cc Marsh Harrier.

Carlton Marsh

It was a wonderful day to be out in the sunshine with a maximum temperature of 18.7c. Today's highlights were 3 Little Egrets, 4 Buzzards very high over the marsh -2 left west. A scarce bird here is the Collared Dove, one was in the car park plantation. Calling birds included Chiffchaff, Goldcrest and 4 Water Rails.

Butterflies included 4 Red Admirals, 2 Comma, 6 Speckled Wood, a white sp. and a Small Copper.
There were at least 5 Migrant Hawkers flying Common Darters.

17 - 19 degrees,  warm with 5/8 cloud and a very light south westerly. 
Anglers CP VisMig: 150 Pink-footed Geese flew east at 09.50hrs. 
Anglers CP: The Dark-bellied Brent Goose and the long staying Pink-footed Goose were with the Canada Goose flock in the car park field this morning.  DBBG still on ACP this evening.  6 Grey Partridges were in the back field late afternoon.   Reed Warbler 1 + 1 WRes.. Shoveler 27.

Anglers CP: Chris Swaine struck again this evening with a Dark-bellied Brent Goose on the shallows at 17.25hrs,  which eventually joined the Canada Goose flock in the car park field
Wintersett Res: 2 male Cetti's Warblers were singing - west bank and at the ruin.  Swallow 1,  House Martin 1,  Chiffchaff 2,  Blackcap 3 and Redpoll 2.

A walk round this afternoon produced Grey Wagtail, Peregrine, Water Rail feeding out in the open, Little Egret, 12 Teal, 7 Shoveler, 4 Little Grebe, 7 Lapwing, Goldcrest and  2 Willow Tit.

15 - 19 degrees, mild with 8/8 cloud and rain until mid morning.  2 new birds for the year list today.
Wintersett Res: A female/immature Common Scoter was on early doors, and then seen on ACP mid morning.    2 male Cetti's Warblers were singing - north bank and Botany. 
Anglers CP: A Spotted Redshank  flew around, then left west at 10.40hrs.  A Rock Pipit flew in and dropped on shallows at 15.00hrs.   Pintail 2.  Shoveler 44 + 12 WRes.  A male and female Goldeneye were in early, then flew off south. Snipe 3. Reed Warbler 1.  Redpoll 1.  Pink-footed Goose 1.

Carlton Marsh

14 Shoveler despite shooting on adjacent land. Also 2 Water Rail and 28 Canada Geese. Ringing produced 2 male Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaff and a Reed Warbler.



A Vapourer moth was flying in the sunshine.

2 Fox cubs were play-fighting as the sun came up. 

Ewden valley 24/9/17.

Hazy light but dry and warm when the sun shined. Very good birding here today with plenty of birds and plenty of observers contributing who were J.Mcloughlin, C.Dixon, G.Haywood, D.Simmonite, S.Green. Totals starting with raptors, - rt Hen Harrier 1, cc Marsh Harrier 3, Merlin 1, Peregrine 1 imm., Sparrowhawk 1, C Buzzard 10+, Kestrel 6. Ring Ouzel 7, Stonechat 12 were two groups of 6. Crossbill 10 included a group of 9, Raven 6, Redpoll 43 included a flock of 40, Siskin 4, Linnet flock 26, Mistle Thrush 8, Lapwing flock 24. Still plenty Meadow Pipit movement with 211 counted, Skylark 1 over, Swallow 6 s., House Martin about 200 blogging lower valley. Reed Bunting 1, Treecreeper 1 well up the track and at the entrance gate woods Nuthatch, 2 Coal Tits, 1 Goldcrest. Almost forgot a group of 6 waders went south late on included 2 Golden Plovers with 4 unidentified.

Anglers CP VisMig: 07,10 - 12.00 hrs.  Golden Plover 2 over.
Going south: Meadow pipit 70,   Swallow 66,  House Martin 12,  Skylark 34,  Alba Wagtail 15, Chaffinch 4. Goldfinch 21.    Pintail 5 at 08.06hrs.  Wigeon 45 flew in,  left at 08.27hrs.   Ruff  6 at 18.00hrs.
Going south east: Golden Plover 2. 
Going west: Snipe 2.  ;
Anglers CP: The LITTLE  GULL, still present.  A Nuthatch was calling from the top of the hill.  Redpoll 4.   Chiffchaff  5.   Grey Wagtail 1.  Pochard 108.    Shoveler 29.   Teal  21.   2 adult Yellow-legged Gulls + Psycho  on the small raft.  A Greenshank flew around calling at 18.20 hrs and dropped on the shallows at 18.30hrs.  It was flying around calling again at 19.20hrs.
Cold Hiendley Res:  Hobby 2 catching dragonflies this afternoon.   Goldeneye 1 adult female.     Tufted Duck 175 + 52 ACP + 4 WRes..   Wigeon 48 + 60 ACP + 5 WRes..    Little Grebe 3 + 2 WRes + 3 ACP.   Cormorant 11.

9 - 15 degrees with 4/8 cloud and a light southerly.
Anglers CP:  4 Shelduck dropped in at 06.40hrs.  The 1stW Little Gull was seen this afternoon.  4 adult Yellow-legged Gulls were in at roosting time.  Greylag Goose 159,  Teal 4,  Pochard 91,  Little Grebe 7.  Grey Partridge 11 in car park field.
Wintersett Res: A male Cetti's Warbler was singing in the boathouse reeds.
Lepidoptera: Moorhouse Lane Pond area. Speckled Wood 2,  Red Admiral 1 and Comma 1.
Critter:  A mink was on the west bank track this morning.

Sabine's Gull at Anglers CP by Ron Marshall 21.09.17

Wintersett + CS Aye! + Gull Roosts 21.09.17

11 - 13 degrees with 8/8 cloud and a  westerly wind.  Rain from midday until 14.30hrs.
Anglers CP: Chris Swaine had a YES!!! moment this afternoon,  when he picked up a small gull flying over the north bank.  He thought, initially, it was the long staying Little Gull,  but soon realised it was a stunning juvenile SABINE'S GULL,  only the 5th record for this site.   It showed, and performed well,  all afternoon, often together with the Little Gull.  Also Shoveler 4 f+1 m,  Teal 4,  Little Grebe 5.  Cormorant 10.
Wintersett Res: A male Cetti's Warbler sub song was heard on the east bank. 
Lepidoptera: Small White 1 west bank.
Wintersett Res. Gull Roost: The Sabine's Gull came in at 19.30 and roosted amongst the Black-headed  Gulls.   The  Little Gull was present for the ninth day.

9 - 12 degrees with 7/8 to 5/8 cloud this morning and a cold, light north westerly.  Sunny spells this afternoon.   Rain from 18.00hrs.

Wintersett Res: The Little Gull was present until late morning.  An Arctic Tern was flying around this afternoon.   3 male Cetti's were singing - north bank, east bank and boathouse reeds.   Willow Tit 1 SE corner. 
Moorhouse Lane Pond: Marsh Harrier 1 CC,   Wigeon 1,  Kestrel 2,  Buzzard 2.

Carlton Marsh

A Cetti's Warbler was ringed here for the first time and it was also a new site record for me! A juv Reed Warbler from Wintersett was ringed on 21/8/17. 3 Blackcaps and a Chiffchaff were also ringed.
A few Skylarks were moving south. Little Egret, Grey Wagtail, Buzzard, Water Rail and 6 Teal were of note.

Ewden lodge and return, 17/9/17.

All the seasons in one day here. Some horrible rain and cold wind, warm in the sun and spring like with singing Chiffchaff and Wren. No Harriers but Merlin mobbing ad. fem. Peregrine with a good size comparison. Sparrowhawk 1, C Buzzard 8, Kestrel 6+. 4 Ring Ouzels showed well in flight with another one among 21 Mistle Thrushes south of the s bend. Two groups of Stonechats with 4 low down the track at the dried up stream and 3 in the s bend area. Ravens, a total of 9, Curlew 1, heard twice near the lodge, Siskin 4. 150+ House Martins were blogging near holt farm with a few going s. with Swallows at the lodge. Still Meadow Pipit movement with a total of 118 going south, mostly at the lodge.

9 - 14 degrees with mostly  8/8 cloud and a cold, light  northerly.  A heavy shower mid afternoon.
Anglers CP Vis.Mig. 07.00 - 12.00hrs 
1 Snipe north.   4 Redshank north east.  
50 Meadow Pipit  south east.  
 2 Jay west.   2 Grey Wagtail,  5 Chaffinch  and 2 Cormorant south west.
Anglers CP:  13 Wigeon dropped in (8 + 5) .  SWIFT 1,  Hobby 1
Wintersett Res:  A Marsh Harrier flew over low, going west 15.30 during heavy shower.
The Little Gull was present until mid morning when it flew over to Anglers CP.  It was  back on WRes. by mid afternoon. . Yellow-legged Gull 1.  Grey Wagtsil 4.  Hobby 3 over and then over CHRes..  A singing male Cetti's Warbler was in the north east corner and another was on the west bank marsh.  The female Cetti's Warbler from the ruin area was retrapped in the west bank clump this morning. 
56 birds were ringed including:  14 Chiffchaffs,  5 Blackcaps,  4 Reed Warblers, 1 Sedge Warbler,  8 Reed Buntings and 2 Grey Wagtails.

Carlton Marsh

Shooting on adjacent land made the wildfowl very spooky. However, Little Egret, Kingfisher, 6 Tufted and 4 Shoveler stayed. 44 Pink Feet flew east at 10.02hrs. Another skein was heard but not seen.
Also of note Peregrine, 2 Coal Tit, Willow Tit, Goldcrest and Spotted Flycatcher on the disused railway.

5 Buzzards in the air included at least 1 immature calling.

9 - 13 degrees with 2/8 cloud and a cold, light, north westerly breeze.
Anglers CP: A total of 145 Pink- footed Geese  were on the move this morning:-  38 E at 09.10hrs,  40 E at 09.35hrs,  10 E at 09.40hrs, 45 E at 10.00hrs,  12 north at 10.25hrs.   2 Pintail dropped in  at 10.30hrs.  A Little Egret was on the shallows.  Swift 1,  Sand Martin 2,  Willow Warbler 1,  Chiffchaff 12,    Shoveler 11,   Wigeon  5 + 15 dropped in at 10.30hrs.
Wintersett Res:  The 1st W Little Gull was still present.  Cetti's Warbler 1 male on the north bank.  Yellow Wagtail 1 on north bank + 1 ACP. 
Cold Hiendley Res:  Little Grebe 2 + 7 ACP,    Wigeon 8.
Haw Park Wood:  Hobby 2.
Lepidoptera: Comma 1 WRes..

Ewden shooting lodge and return 15/9/17.

Mostly dry and bright but cool and refuge was taken at the south facing gable of the lodge. On arrival here rt Hen Harrier and cc Marsh Harrier were showing well, together at one point. Also 2 Sparrowhawks, 7 C Buzzards with one carrying a rabbit, 6 Kestrels were the only falcon species seen, surprising, given the number of Pipits. Party of 5 possibly 6 Ring Ouzels flew into a rowan tree and were feeding on the berries but dropped near heather and lost to view. Total of 7 Ravens and plenty of Meadow Pipit movement going south with a total of 223. Hirundine movement but most too high and distant to do any accurate counts.

Wombwell Ings - There continues to be 600+ Canada and 164+ Greylag spread over the ings, back field and Broomhill Flash. On the ings were 3 Mute Swan, 21 Shoveler, 16 Teal, 14 Gadwall, 11 Mallard, 2 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1+1y Moorhen, 2 Kestrel, 83 Lapwing, 1 LBB Gull, 50+ House Martin  along the R.Dove, 3 Pied Wagtail  and 10+ Long Tailed Tits along the Bulling Dyke.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+6y Mute Swan, 331 Mallard, 29 Gadwall, 17 Shoveler, 13 Tufted Duck, 6 Pintail, 5 Teal, 1 Pochard, 11 Little Grebe, 5 Cormorant, 3 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 25 Coot, 7 Moorhen, 7 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 juvenile Ringed Plover, 12 LBB Gull, 5 BH Gull, 1 Kingfisher, 9 Swallow and 1 Sand Martin.
Bolton Ings - On the open water were 2+4y Mute Sawn, 4 Canada Geese, 4 Greylag, 5 Gadwall, 4 Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 7 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 78 Coot and 2 Moorhen. Carlton Marsh

Shoveler had increased to 8 and a Pochard was with 4 Tufted Duck. Kingfisher put a good show continually hovering. 40 House martins flew south with Swallows. Goldcrest and Willow Tit were also present.
3 Red Admiral were feeding on Buddleja and 4 Migrant and 1 Brown Hawker were flying in the sunnier sheltered spots.
A Humming-bird Hawk Moth was feeding on Jasmine in Geoff Miller's Cudworth garden this morning.

Wintersett Res: A 1stW Little Gull flew around before moving on to CHRes.  A male Cetti's Warbler sang by the boathouse.  A Whitethroat was on the west bank.

Carlton Marsh

Little Egret was on the Wader scrape with 3 Teal and 12 Gadwall. The latter have steadily increased over the past week to about 30 overall.  There were at least 6 Shoveler again today with 4 Tufted. 2 Swifts flew south.

Another Harvest Mouse nest containing 6 blind young was discovered during reed cutting. This nest was approximately 200 yards north of the one found a week ago, suggesting that they are more common here that we could have hoped.

The results of the Yorkshire In Bloom competition were announced at York racecourse yesterday. Carlton Marsh was awarded Platinum in the 'Open Spaces' category. A big thank you to all who helped.

High Hoyland - another (new?) bush cricket


Two Oak Bush Crickets found today in woodland near High Hoyland. There is a reference to this species in the Victoria County History (1907) as occurring in 'Pog Moor Wood' but without year or recorder's name. This could well be the first genuine report for the district therefore.

This afternoon 2 Swift flew south. On the marsh were 6 Shoveler, 4 Tufted. 4 Little Grebe, 33 Gadwall, 2 Little Egret and 2 Kingfisher.

17 Red Admiral and a Small Tortoiseshell were feeding on Buddleja.

Wilthorpe Marsh / Fleets Dam. 11/9/17.

Wilthorpe - 5 Green Sand, L. Egret, 2 Sand Martins, C Buzzard 1 pair. Fleets - 2 RN Parakeets at the asda end. Probably more but hidden by the leaves. Talking to the dam owner this afternoon he mentioned around 18 in the area, best seen early morning. Also Tufted Duck fem., 1 GC Grebe.

Low Moor 9/9/17 +.

Heavy rain showers stopped it. Looked good during a brief sunny spell with 7 C Buzzards, 6 Kestrels and 2 Sparrowhawks. 200+ House Martins, 15 LBB Gulls, Siskin 2 w. 2 Crossbills here on Thursday aft. were the first since May. Very steady at Wilthorpe Marsh this morning with Wheatear 1, Green Sandpiper 4, Teal 11, Little Egret flew in.

13 - 16 degrees with rain at dawn, 8 /8 cloud and a light south westerly.  2 more  rain showers this morning.  a heavy shower  early afternoon and a short shower late afternoon.

Going south: .  Meadow Pipits were moving intermittently, with best  number during rain. A total of 849 (680 a.m + 169 p.m) went through.  An OSPREY flew high south at 11.15hrs.    Swift 29.  House Martin 96.  Dunlin 3.  Chaffinch 3.  Siskin 1.  Yellow Wagtail 2 and Grey Wagtail 1.
An adult Yellow-legged Gull flew north west.   6 Ruff flew north at 10.55hrs + 2 flew around gull roost then left west at 19.25hrs.

Carlton Marsh

A Pochard returned after a 4 day absence and was in the company of 2 Little Egret, 3 Little Grebe, 2 Shoveler, 5 Teal, 4 Tufted and a Kingfisher that habitually hovers to catch fish.

Butterflies included 11 Red Admiral and 1 Peacock on Buddleja, 2 Small White and 3 Comma feeding on Blackberry.

A Brown Hawker and 3 Migrant Hawkers were enjoying the afternoon sunshine.

This Harvest Mouse nest was almost destroyed during management work yesterday. The grass it is made of was still fresh and green, today it is more of a straw colour.

Bolton Ings - Another good raptor day with 3 Buzzard, 3 Kestrel, 1 Marsh Harrier and extended views from the hide of an Hobby hawking for dragonflies over the reeds on the back edge. A bonus was the Bittern sunbathing on top of the reeds in the north east corner. On the open water were 1 Mute Swan, 7 Greylag, 12 Gadwall, 7 Shoveler, 4 Tufted Duck, 3 Pochard, 1 Mallard, 5 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Cormorant, 69 Coot and 1 Moorhen. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Jay, 1 Swift and c60 Sand Martin.

Broomhill Flash - There was a large number of geese swimming too and fro over the flash, a mitigating fact against trying to make an accurate count. Wombwell Ings - The 597 Canada Geese and 123 Greylag formed an impressive sight amongst the straw bales in the back field and  was only surpassed by an Osprey circling overhead before flying north towards Edderthorpe. Also present were 3 Mute Swan, 83 Gadwall, 31 Teal, 11 Shoveler, 7 Wigeon, 4 Mallard, 4 Tufted Duck, 4 Pochard, 2 Cormorant, 4 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Moorhen, c200 Lapwing, 4 Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, 3 BH Gull and 2 Yellow Wagtail.
Broomhill Flash - A low flying helicopter forced the Canadas and Greylags to leave the back field and settle on the flash making counting difficult ( Not able to see the ducks for the geese! ). However, Seev persevered and noted 2+6y Mute Swan, 386 Mallard, 40 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck, 4 Teal, 3 Pochard, 3 Shoveler, 21 Little Grebe, 3 Cormorant, 5 Little Egret, 72 Coot, 8 Moorhen, 14 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Kingfisher and 1 Swift.
Bolton Ings - Highlight was three distinctly different  Marsh Harriers ( A cream crown, a cream crown/ cream shoulders and a ginger crown ). The cream crown circling over Bolton tip was also picked up by observers from Wath Ings hide, whilst the other two birds gave extended views over the reeds on the north bank of the east pool. Not quite as impressive was a Buzzard circling just above the tree line of  Bolton tip, with a Hobby just above it and a Kestrel above the other two raptors. On the open water were 2+4y Mute Swan, 16 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck, 4 Mallard, 3 Shoveler, 2 Pochard, 7 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe and  61 Coot. Also present were 4 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, 63 Lapwing, 2 Greenshank, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker, 1 yaffling Green Woodpecker, 2 Lesser Whitethroat and 1 singing Chiffchaff.

13 - 20 degrees, with a dull, hazy start, and a light south westerly. Brightened and warmed up from late morning.

A Hobby flew SE over Newtown at 15.56hrs (CG) and a Swift and 30 Swallows flew over Beech Avenue this morning (Geoff Miller).

13 - 17 degrees with 3/8 cloud and a light southerly.
Anglers CP VisMig: 06.00 - 12.00hrs 
Going south- A male MERLIN.  3 Buzzards  (+ 15 locals over and around).   Meadow Pipit 83, Sand Martin 54, Swallow 382,   SWIFT 5 (+ 4 over WRes),  Linnet 26 and  Chaffinch 5.      
Going north: Teal 7  (+ 15 ACP) 
Anglers CP: A GREENSHANK flew over  and then over WRes. at 09.15hrs.  An adult KITTIWAKE (new for year) was in from 13.30 - 14.10hrs.  Hobby 3.  Peregrine 1 juvenile.  Sparrowhawk 4,  Kestrel 2,  Pink-footed Goose 1.   Yellow-legged Gull  1 adult - Psycho.  110 Tree Sparrows  were in the  car park this evening.
Wintersett Res: Cetti's Warbler 1 male on west bank.
A calling BITTERN   flew over the east bank at 20.45hrs,  heading towards Botany Bay and  a  Hobby took a hirundine.
99 Birds ringed today including 26 Chiffchaff,  12 Willow Warbler,  5 Reed Warbler,  7 Sedge Warbler,  19 Blackcap,  2 Garden Warbler,  1 Lesser Whitethroat and 7 Sand Martin. 
Lepidoptera: Common Blue 2 Disposal Point.  Green-veined White 1  ACP.  Red Admiral 1 west bank WRes..

Bright and sunny but loads of midges with teeth. Insect repellent a must today but mine was left in the motor. Still managed to tuff it out with relief when the breeze blew. cc Marsh Harrier 1 possibly 2, with 2 possibly 3 reported this morning. Hobby 1, Peregrine 1 possibly 2, Sparrowhawk 1, C Buzzard 8+, Kestrel 6+. The s bend area had 1 Whinchat and what was thought to be 7 Stonechats which included at least 3 males. Raven scarce, just 1, Meadow Pipit 25, Siskin 2. Steady trickle of House Martin and Swallows going s.

Anglers CP: Little Grebe 3 + 4 CHRes.  Shoveler 1.
Wintersett Res:A fisherman reported a  Bittern  flying between reedbeds, at dawn and dusk, yesterday and today.  2 male Cetti's Warblers were heard,  one on Botany Road and one on the north bank.  A Whitethroat was on the west bank and a Willow Warbler was on the  north east bank. Yellow Wagtail 1.
Lepidoptera: A Red Admiral was by the boathouse and a Green-veined White was on the north bank.  WRes..
6 new birds were added to the area year list in August, bringing the total to 160.

Wombwell Ings - Present were 26 Gadwall, 13 Shoveler, 11 Mallard, 4 Wigeon, 3 Tufted Duck, 1 Cormorant, 3 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Moorhen, 1 Kestrel, 162 Lapwing, 5 Dunlin, 7 BH Gull, 2 Pied Wagtail, c100 Goldfinch and 2 Linnet.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+6y Mute Swan, 288 Canada Geese, 77 Greylag, 174 Mallard, 14 Gadwall, 9 Shoveler, 8 Tufted Duck, 5 Teal, , 3 Pochard, 23 Little Grebe, 5 Cormorant, 3 Little Egret,  132 Coot, 12 Moorhen, 11 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 28 BH Gull, 1 LBB Gull and 1 Kingfisher.
Bolton Ings - Highlight was a Hobby hunting over the reedbeds at the back of the left island on the eastern pool. On the open water were  2+3y Mute Swan, 24 Greylag, 1 Canada Goose, 23 Shoveler, 21 Gadwall, 8 Tufted Duck, 7 Mallard, 4 Pochard, 5 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe and 52 Coot. Also present were 4 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Whitethroat and 2 Bullfinch.
