Carlton Marsh

Little Egret was on the Wader scrape with 3 Teal and 12 Gadwall. The latter have steadily increased over the past week to about 30 overall.  There were at least 6 Shoveler again today with 4 Tufted. 2 Swifts flew south.

Another Harvest Mouse nest containing 6 blind young was discovered during reed cutting. This nest was approximately 200 yards north of the one found a week ago, suggesting that they are more common here that we could have hoped.

The results of the Yorkshire In Bloom competition were announced at York racecourse yesterday. Carlton Marsh was awarded Platinum in the 'Open Spaces' category. A big thank you to all who helped.
