The Edge 07/09/2017

Womnbwell Ings - Present were 3 Mute Swan, 7 Canada Geese, 5 Greylag, 15 Gadwall, 10 Teal, 9 Mallard, 7 Tufted Duck, 5 Shoveler, 2 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 1 Grey Heron, 3 Moorhen, 1 Kestrel and 1 Kingfisher.
Broomhill Flash - Noted were 2+6y Mute Swan, 600+ Canada Geese, 129 Greylag, 382 Mallard, 40 Gadwall, 15 Shoveler, 9 Tufted Duck, 4 Teal, 4 Pochard, 2 Wigeon, 20 Little Grebe, 2 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 1 Kestrel, 72 Coot, 7 Moorhen, 16 Lapwing, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Snipe, 16 BH Gull and 8 Yellow Wagtail.
Bolton Ings - Another good raptor day with 3 Buzzard, 3 Kestrel, 1 Marsh Harrier and extended views from the hide of an Hobby hawking for dragonflies over the reeds on the back edge. A bonus was the Bittern sunbathing on top of the reeds in the north east corner. On the open water were 1 Mute Swan, 7 Greylag, 12 Gadwall, 7 Shoveler, 4 Tufted Duck, 3 Pochard, 1 Mallard, 5 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Cormorant, 69 Coot and 1 Moorhen. Also present were 1 Grey Heron, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Jay, 1 Swift and c60 Sand Martin.
