Thursday update

Old Moor: Female Bittern regular in flight, male still 'booming', Peregrine, Avocet 18 ads, 5 broods, Greenshank Field Pool early am, Sanderling flew east, Med' Gull 4, Common Tern 8.

Wombwell Ings this eve: Shelduck + 9 young, Peregrine, Avocet 2, LRP 2, RP 1, Redshank 4 broods, 9 young, Greenshank 2 (presumed one from Old Moor), Dunlin 2, Whimbrel (back field).

Broomhill Flash: The Arctic Tern was a surprise June bird this morning. Unclear if it was seen after I left at c8pm, maybe Micks blog means it was still on this evening? Surprised if it was but I never got back. Black Tern looks a more likely bet over next few days.

Dave Pearce spent much of the day on top of Marjorie Hill yesterday and also saw some interesting birds! Highlights from general area: Golden Plover - lots of birds in territory, Dunlin 7 pairs in territory, Ring Ouzel pair in territory, Raven 3.
