Having then finished the usual count Dave Waddington came on the CB radio to ask Seev and I to keep a lookout for a smallish falcon that was heading our way from Old Moor. 5 minutes later we located a female Red Footed Falcon which did a few passes over the eastern pond before flying back towards Old Moor where it was seen by some people in the Wath Ings Hide before being lost to view over the Field Pool. The airwaves were red hot when it was relocated with instructions to its location coming fast and furiously. During this period a Bittern flew over to the eastern pond from the the reedbeds but we failed to hear the message of a Red Kite high over Bolton Tip. Our last view of the of the Red Footed Falcon was at 1.35pm when it flew directly over our heads and disappeared eastwards along the R.Dearne.
