Bad weather takes its toll at Wintersett 09.05.12

The remaining Tree Sparrow nest boxes were checked this morning.  The results were disappointing, but much as expected, due to the frosts and heavy rain over the last two weeks.  There were quite a few nest boxes with small, dead young, and, of the broods that had survived, several had only one or two young.   In comparison, last year's first broods were exellent, with most having four or five young, due to the heatwave in April.
Anglers CP - Common Sandpiper 1,  Pochard 1♀,  Wheatear 1♀.
Wintersett Res - Common Tern 4.
