Morning News - Two-barred Crossbills 22.08.13

13°C and sunny.
A calling TBC  flew over at 06.10hrs just after I arrived.  Then there were small groups of Common Crossbills moving around the viewing area and a large flock of around 60  flew over before 07.00hrs.  At 08.15 one TBC flew over calling and then another did the same at 10.00 hrs.   At 10.15 the stunning male TBC was seen preening and feeding, giving good views, until 10.45hrs. At the same time there were 2 females and a least 3 juveniles present.   All in all  6 Two-barred Crossbills were confirmed this morning but there were more birds present that weren't confirmed because their features couldn't be seen clearly due to the sun.
