Carlton Marsh

New in today our first Shoveler of the year. 36 Fieldfares and 2 Redwings were feeding in a nearby field while 2 Buzzards watched on (K. Bannister).

A female Blackcap visited Karen Pickard's Monk Bretton garden (after a male last week).

On Wednesday 17th, 3 skeins of Pink Feet, c150 in each skein, flew west at 08.50hrs (K. Bannister).

On Thursday18th, our group put up 3 more Great Tit/Blue Tit, 1 Robin and a Woodpecker nest box up on the south side of the reserve. A colonial nest box for House Sparrows was placed in the car park. Our thanks to John Finch for the superbly made stone fronted boxes.

12 Chaffinch and a Grey Wagtail entertained at Littleworth Park, Monk Bretton, and 2 Kingfishers were on Cudworth dike near the old railway station (C. Parkin).
