Carlton Marsh

Most wild birds are responding to the warm weather just like us. Canada and Greylag geese are staking out breeding territories; 30 Canada and 14 Greylags were present along with 26 Teal and 2 drake Goosanders.

Also of note today our first butterfly of the year, a Small Tortoiseshell on Blackthorn, and Coltsfoot and Daffodil are in flower. (All sightings from Chris Parkin).

Velvet Shank fungi is growing on an Owler Tree (CG).
