Carlton Marsh

12 Yellow Buntings, 6 Meadow Pipits, a Goldcrest, a singing Mistle Thrush and 4 Red-legged Partridges were all found along a field hedge just north of the reserve. Not forgetting a pair of House Sparrows, our first this year!

Then towards mid-day a Chiffchaff called and came near the hide feeding in a Birch tree.

In the reserve 2 Cormorants, 2 Water Rails and 2 Cetti's Warblers called. A LBB Gull was present and a Peregrine flashed at a Sparrowhawk.

At dusk a pair of Tawny Owls called to each other and a Pipistrelle Bat was on the wing.

Insects temped out by the sun were single Migrant Hawker, Common Red Darter, Red Admiral and  Speckled Wood. 2 Green Shield Bugs were also found.
