Good God-wit

An evening visit to Wombwell Ings. This site still looks excellent. Birds included 10 Teal, 4 Avocets, c150 Swallows, c70 House Martins and c30 Sand Martins. With another influx of Red-rumped Swallows in the UK at the moment surely it's only a matter of time before some Barnsley birder hits the jackpot?

Old Moor today - Black-necked Grebe, Hobby, 4 Buzzards, 2 Yellow Wags, Wheatear, 3 Common Terns.

Yesterday the 3 cy Med Gull was still on The Mere and confirmed as the returning bird reared there in 2010 (Yellow darvic ring 2E26). The drake Garganey was also around.

A couple of cracking shots of the Whitley Common 'Bar-wit' below, which was still present at 2.30 today.
