Sunday, Edderthorpe, WeBS count

Mt Swan 19, Canada Goose 443, Greylag Goose 226, Mallard 435, Teal 135, Gadwall 20, Wigeon 7, Shoveler 45, Pintail 3, Tufted 10, Cormorant 5, Grey Heron 3, Little Grebe 3, Coot 101, Moorhen 40, Lapwing 620, Golden Plover 35, Black-tailed Godwit 1, Snipe 7, Kingfisher 1.
Apart from the geese numbers which are recent maximums, there have been higher counts for all species in the preceeding week.
Ferrymoor;- Canada Goose 46, Mallard 96, Gadwall 2, Tufted 4, Little Grebe 1, Coot 6, Moorhen 12.

Excellent count of grey lags.
They may have, but I can't remember them breaking through the 200 mark before.
Not everybodies cup of tea - but I like them.
These and canada's are the only wetland birds that ordinary people in the streets along the Dearne Valley get to notice.
The presence of birds improving our environment.
