The Edge of Old Moor

Broomhill Flash mid AM- Another murky morning with visibility getting worse as mist gradually drifted in. Present were 2 Mute Swan, 36 Tufted Duck, 36 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 2 Wigeon,  1 Grey Heron, 8 Cormorant, 8 Little Grebe, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Common Gull, 1 LBB Gull, 4 Golden Plover, 1 Snipe and 1 Kestrel. Jim Thompson noted 2 Black Swan on Little Broomhill late AM and they were still present at 2pm.

Bolton Ings late AM- Influx of winter thrushes today with a flock of 20+ Redwing, a flock of 15 Fieldfare and a mixed flock of 50+. On the open water were 3 Mute Swan and 5 juv, 30+ Gadwall, 26 Pochard, 11 Tufted Duck, 3 Wigeon, 2 Shoveler, 1  female Goldeneye, 6 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Little Grebe, 10 Cormorant and 1 Grey Heron. Also noted were 1 Grey Wagtail, 3 + Greenwoodpecker, 1 Greater Spotted Woodpecker, 3+ Jay, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Oystercatcher and a flock of 50+ Redpoll.
