The Edge 2nd Oct

Broomhill Flash mid AM- Discretion suggested it was better to sit in the hide than getting soaked going onto Wombwell Ings.  Present were 5 Little Grebe, 2 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret(over 9.37am), 1a+1y Mute Swan, 75 Canada Geese, 39 Greylag, 66 Mallard, 13 Teal,12 Gadwall, 12 Shoveler, 11 Tufted Duck, 7 Wigeon, 5 Black Tailed Godwit, 6+ Snipe, 4 LBB Gull and 1 Sparrowhawk.

Wombwell Ings late AM/early PM- Present were 1 Grey Heron, 1a+1y Mute Swan, 100+ Teal, 14 Mallard, 8 Gadwall, 8 Wigeon, 5 Shoveler, 50+ Lapwing, 47 Golden Plover, 10+ Snipe, 7 Ringed Plover, 4 Spotted Redshank, 2 Black Tailed Godwit, 2 Dunlin, 43 BH Gull, 10+ Red Legged Partridge, 25+ Linnet 9 Meadow Pipit and 3 Skylark.

The lure of the American Golden Plover was a greater attraction than the walk down to Bolton Ings. Fortunately it reappeared.
