Wintersett 03.10.13

14°C,  cloudy, misty all morning.  Rain from 15.00hrs.
Anglers CP:  The first autumn Brambling called from trees at the car park entrance.  Yellow-legged Gull 4 adults,  Water Rail1,  House Martin 10,  Grey Wagtail 1,  Chiffchaff 4 + 2 WRes,  Shoveler 10 +  11 WRes + 3 CHRes.
Wintersett Res: Little Grebe 4,  Teal 1,  Goldfinch 40,  Swallow 40 on Botany.
Also flying: Migrant Hawker 5.
Moths trapped overnight included:  2 Feathered Thorn,  Blair's Shoulder-knot,  Pale Pinion, Flounced Chestnut,  2 Grey Shoulder-knot,  Red-green Carpet,  2 Red Underwing and micro moth Gold Triangle.

Footnote:  The Red-necked Phalorope at ACP yesterday was only the 3rd record for the Wintersett area and was last recorded 37 years ago!
