Hordron Road, Sunday afternoon 9/7/17.

Birds surprisingly difficult to find today with over 2 hours before the first raptor. An increase in Wheatears with 3 at the hordron barn but not much else here. The bird of the day was an adult male Ring Ouzel on the wall at upper hordron barn with it or another calling earlier near the river. Also viewed from here, Merlin 2 with the male a bit closer but still no top views. C Buzzard 3, Kestrels scarce, just 1 and the same with Raven, just a single. The usual number of about 4 calling Golden Plovers includes 1 showing well on long moor edge. A Grey Heron was in fox clough on the way back + a Curlew chick showing well. Great news last night with 4 to 5 Long Eared Owl juvs calling at wilthorpe marsh, so a good weekend for this species.
