Wintersett + Evening update 27.08.17

17 - 19 degrees with 1/8 but increasing cloud, and a cool south westerly.
Anglers CP VisMig: 07.00 - 12.00hr  Going south Swallow 1.   Swift 1 + 9 blogging.  Meadow Pipit 1  + 1 west.  Where are all the birds?
Anglers CP: Canada X Greylag Goose hybrids 5.  Shoveler 3.  Pink-footed Goose 1. 14 Common buzzards in 2 kettles (8&6) were up late morning.
Wintersett Res: Hobby 1.  Water Rail 1 west bank. 
86 birds were ringed:  REDSTART 1 1st year male. (new for year).  Chiffchaff 30.  Willow Warbler 6.  Blackcap 12.  Garden Warbler 2  Reed Warbler 12.  Sedge Warbler 3.  Goldcrest 1.  Swallow 6.
BAT WALKs yesterday and today  in Pits Wood organised by Alan Preece, the owner,  revealed and confirmed  8 species of bat:- Brown Long-eared, Noctule,  Liesler's,  Common Pipistrelle,  Soprano Pipistrelle,  Daubentons,  a Whiskered/Brandts sp, and a  Nathusius'Pipistrelle  recorded on Chris Swaine's Echo Meter.
Moths trapped yesterday and today in Pits Wood were: Large Yellow Underwing,  Lesser Broad Bordered Large Yellow Underwing,  Six striped Rustic,  Green Carpet,  Square Spot Rustic, Snout, Vapourer, Copper/Svenson's Underwing and Straw Dot.
