Carlton Marsh

7 LBB Gulls, 5 Herring Gulls and a brood of 6 Mallards were the only notables on the wader scrape. Elsewhere a Water Rail called and c50 House Martins c20 Swifts and 10 Swallows were hawking over the main scrape in the cool damp conditions.
A Garden Warbler was singing as a male Tawny Owl sang from its usual roost at 11.47hrs. Minutes later, at 12.00hrs, he made the short flight across the scrape that he normally does at dusk!

Single Foxes were seen hunting both scrapes.

This Herring Gull clearly has a plastic problem (Rod Heeley)
