Carlton Marsh

Thanks to Andy Hill and Jeremy Brown for identifying the beetle tweeted by Alex Aylward yesterday - Thick-legged Beetle. Its our 2nd record of it.

Today 4 drake Teal alighted on  the wader scrape. Also present 2 Cormorant, 25 Herring Gulls, 17 LBB Gulls and a new brood of 5 Mallard. Elsewhere Cuckoo sang, Garden Warbler sang near the hide and 3 Cetti's Warbler are singing from breeding territories.  

Insects included male Emperor Dragonfly, 2 Four Spot Chaser, 2 Common Damsel, 2 Blue-tailed Damsel, 3m & 3f Banded Demoiselle, 5 GV White, 5 Small Heath, 1 Small Copper, 1 Common Blue, 1 Dingy Skipper, 1 Orange-tip, and 1 very worn Peacock K. Bannister/JP/CG.
