Odonata and Lepidoptera in the Wintersett area - 13.06.2021 - Fantastic counts per @Fitzybirder

ODONATA:

Anglers CP:  

Emperor 1,  4 Spotted Chaser 10,  Black-tailed Skimmer 2 males. 

Moorhouse Lane Ponds:

Emperor 8 (2 females),    4 Spotted Chaser 18,   Black-tailed Skimmer 1 male, 

Azure Damselfly:  47 on Big Pond - 3 pairs ovipositing on Dock Pond,

Red-eyed Damselfly :  single males on Big Pond, Dock Pond and Scoter Pond 

Blue-tailed Damselfly: 50 Big Pond.

Large Red Damselfly 1 Big Pond.

Blue Damselflies - About 10% of Blues checked at Big Pond were Azure Damselflies, but only about 10% of Blues present were checked/or could be checked. 

Botany Bay: 

Red-eyed Damslefly 130 (many pairs in cop)  Emperor 1.  4 Spotted Chaser 1.


LEPIDOPTERA IN THE AREA:

Disposal Point:  Small Heath 3 + 1 Skimmer Pond.

Moorhouse Lane Pond:  Large Skipper 3   Orange Tip 1  Speckled Wood 1  Peacock 1.

Botany Bay:  Chimmney Sweeper 1.

Common Blue Damselfly: 

Just to give some idea of numbers - 

1000+ counted on south and east banks Anglers CP,  probably  3 - 4 thousand on Big Pool

Botany Bay Estimate - easily  100+ Blues to every Red-eyed = 13,000 !
